#MeToo

Sexual assault and harassment is never okay. It’s heartbreaking (but sadly no longer surprising) that so many women have experienced this evil and injustice. As several women have noted, soon the #metoo hashtag will leave the headlines but the scars and sorrows of their abuse won’t leave in the same way. We as a church are praying for God's healing over the ladies who’ve courageously spoken out on social media as well as those who’ve courageously chosen to share with others in a more private setting. I believe these voices will help others who've carried these secrets speak out and find help and hope. As broken as this world is, and with so many questions that remain unanswered, I’m thankful that there is a God who comforts the brokenhearted. We as a church family pray you will know His healing love through Jesus.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

*** If you've been sexually abused or harassed, we encourage you to report it and seek counsel to begin the healing process. We at The Brook want to be a voice of help and healing. One counseling center we've worked with and have recommended is the Chicago Christian Counseling Center. You are not alone.
