From the day The Brook launched, we've made our vision clear that we want to be a part of planting more churches in Chicago. We recently teamed up with Reach Chicago, an Evangelical Free Churches (EFCA) church planting network of likeminded churches, to create a Residency Program where Church Planting residents would be a part of churches like ours for training, assessing, and pre-launch coaching.
The Reach Chicago movement has grown out of a desire to see the gospel spread throughout our region. We believe that Christ will use us far more effectively together than any one of our churches alone. We exist to glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people.
The Chicago metropolitan area is the third largest in the United States, with more than 9 million souls. It is home to nearly one hundred colleges and universities. Many major corporations are headquartered here, or else have branch offices. Chicago is ethnically diverse, with people from all over the world who have come to study or do business. So there exists a significant opportunity to impact people who will take the Gospel all over the country—even the world.
Although Chicago already has a noticeable evangelical presence, much more work needs to be done. Many neighborhoods in the city, and a number of sizable suburbs, are underserviced in terms of Gospel witness. There is plenty of room to plant and grow.
